The story of Quratulain started years ago in the narrow lanes of Karachi’s famous Kapra Market. As a child Quratulain Abedin would often accompany her father to his wholesale fabric store, her fingers itching to run across everything from silk, chiffon, and viscose to cotton and linen and a whole lot more while her father dealt with customers in the background. Fabrics are something that she understands deeply, how could she not after being raised around every material under the sun?
Then there was her mother, a guiding presence to this day and a designer in her own right. A small business owner who turned dinner table conversations with her husband and a desire for creativity into something more. While she may have taught Quratulain all about design and tailoring what has been her most important contribution is the confidence and passion that she inspired within our founder, qualities that are necessary for any woman hoping to make waves or a designer who is determined to carve out her own identity.
While Pakistan may be where this journey started it is in Dubai that it remains rooted. The city where Quratulain made her first abaya for a dear friend or discovered the true possibilities of modest wear as she roamed the streets of the old city. Today this eponymous label is a true reflection of its founder and carries her commitment to the finest fabrics and her passion for creating alluring designs for a discerning clientele.
